Acid Techno
Acid techno is a subgenre of techno that emerged in the late 1980s and is characterized by the characteristic sound of the Roland TB-303. The acid-like, bubbling sound is created by manipulating the filter and resonance parameters of the TB-303. Pioneers such as Hardfloor, DJ Pierre and Plastikman have had a significant influence on acid techno. The genre is often associated with the rave culture of the 90s and is characterized by hypnotic bass lines, high BPM numbers and a psychedelic atmosphere.
Adrian Mills
AdriΓ‘n Mills is a DJ and producer born in Spain and raised in Pforzheim, Germany. His musical style is a dynamic blend of hard techno, early hardstyle, hardcore, and acid, often enriched with ghetto elements and vocals. He is a co-founder of the underground event series Xpand and has played as a resident DJ at the Gotec Club in Karlsruhe. In 2021, he founded the label and event organization 240kmh to unite artists with a hard, rousing sound. His well-known tracks include "Ferrari F40" (2021) and "AFTERHOURINPARIS" (2021). AdriΓ‘n Mills regularly performs at events such as Adrenaline in Cologne and has collaborated with artists such as Stef de Haan.
Berghain
Berghain is a legendary Berlin techno club that emerged from its predecessor, Ostgut, in 2004. Known for its strict door policy, long opening hours and massive sound, Berghain has established itself as one of the world's most influential clubs. The club is known for its purist focus on techno and house, its dark atmosphere and its Funktion-One sound system. DJs such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann and Boris are closely associated with Berghain.
Core
"Core" is often used as a short form for harder techno styles such as hardcore, speedcore or terrorcore. These styles are characterized by extreme BPM numbers (sometimes over 200 BPM), distorted kick drums and aggressive sounds. Core is an underground movement that emerged from gabber in the 90s and is often associated with raves and festivals such as Masters of Hardcore or Thunderdome.

Detroit Techno
Detroit Techno is one of the original genres of techno that emerged in Detroit, USA in the 1980s. It was developed by artists such as Juan Atkins, Derrick May and Kevin Saunderson ("The Belleville Three"). Detroit Techno combines futuristic sounds with funk and electronic influences. It is characterized by complex rhythms, spherical melodies and a melancholic, mechanical aesthetic.
Dub Techno
combines the repetitive structures of techno with the deep, reverberating effects of dub. This subgenre places emphasis on atmospheric soundscapes, warm basslines and the use of echo and reverb to create a hypnotic effect. Pioneers such as Basic Channel have had a significant influence on this sound.
Free Tekno
is a subgenre of hard techno that became popular in the European free party scene. It is characterized by fast tempos between 150 and 185 BPM and a pounding, repetitive kick drum sound. Unlike mainstream hardcore, it uses less distortion.
Gotec
Gotec is a well-known club in Karlsruhe, known for its electronic music events and modern club culture. The club offers a wide range of events from techno and house to drum & bass and regularly attracts national and international DJs.

Hardstyle
developed in the Netherlands in the late 1990s and combines elements of hardcore techno and hard trance. The sound is characterized by hard kick drums, euphoric melodies and energetic breakdowns. Well-known acts in this genre are Headhunterz, Wildstylez and Noisecontrollers.
HΓR Berlin
HΓR Berlin is a well-known online streaming project for electronic music, known worldwide for its intimate, minimalist DJ sets. Since its founding, it has evolved into one of the most important platforms for underground techno, hard techno, house, and experimental electronic music.

Industrial Techno
emerged in the early 1990s and combines the mechanical rhythms of techno with the harsh, often dark sounds of industrial music. It is characterized by distorted beats, metallic sounds and an overall raw aesthetic. Artists such as Surgeon and Adam X are well-known representatives of this style.
KitKat
KitKat is a legendary club in Berlin, known for its blend of techno, fetish, and hedonistic party culture. Since 1994, the club has offered a unique atmosphere with electronic music, a revealing dress code, and an open, sex-positive scene. International DJs regularly play there, while visitors showcase their creative, fetish-inspired outfits. A strict door policy and no cell phone use ensure an intimate club experience.
Minimal Techno
is a stripped-down subgenre of techno that emerged in the early 1990s. It is characterized by simple rhythms, sparse melodies and the deliberate use of silence. Artists such as Richie Hawtin, Robert Hood and Ricardo Villalobos have had a significant influence on this style.

Techno Viking
became an internet phenomenon in the early 2000s. A video from a Berlin techno parade shows a muscular man dancing to keep order. The video went viral and turned him into a meme, even though he never appeared in public.
Uptempo Hardcore
is an extremely fast and aggressive variant of hardcore techno with BPMs well over 200. The style combines distorted kicks, shrill leads, and dark samples. Uptempo is particularly popular in the Netherlands and Germany, often in conjunction with gabber and Frenchcore.
Zeus
Zeus is a hard techno and industrial techno DJ and producer known for his brutal, fast, and energetic sound. His tracks are characterized by distorted kicks, dark atmospheres, and driving industrial elements, which are particularly popular in the European rave and underground scenes.
